Request IWS Survey
An In-Water Survey (IWS) is an inspection of a vessel’s underwater parts carried out afloat, as an alternative to dry-docking.
During the survey, class surveyors and certified diving teams examine:
•Hull condition & structural integrity
•Sea chest and sea gratings
•Overboard discharges and fittings
•Rudder, stern area and appendages
•Propeller and shaft line (visual inspection only, if required by class)
The entire process is monitored using high-definition video cameras, with real-time feed provided to the attending surveyor.
•Cost-Effective: Avoids expensive dry-docking procedures
•Time-Saving: Vessel remains operational, minimizing off-hire time
•Class Compliance: Accepted by all IACS classification societies
•Detailed Reporting: Full video and photo documentation for records
•Environmental Benefits: No need for shipyard docking, less operational disruption
At the end of each survey, U-SEA DIVING provides:
•High-quality video and photo records
•Condition reports for class societies
•Recommendations for preventive actions if required
All reports are tailored to the standards of classification societies and are delivered both digitally and in hard copy if requested.
U-SEADIVING carries out class-approved in-water surveys (IWS / UWILD) at major Turkish ports and anchorages.
Our dive teams are equipped for rapid mobilization and can attend vessels at short notice across the Aegean, Marmara, Mediterranean and Black Sea regions.

All in-water surveys are carried out in coordination with the vessel’s classification society and attending surveyor. U-SEADIVING works in full compliance with class procedures to ensure that each inspection is accepted as an alternative to dry-docking when permitted by class.
During the operation, high-definition video footage is transmitted in real time, allowing the attending surveyor to observe critical areas directly. Our dive supervisors maintain continuous communication between the diver, surface team and class representative throughout the survey.
Following completion, all findings, visual records and condition notes are compiled into a structured inspection report formatted according to class requirements.
U-SEADIVING delivers class-approved in-water surveys that help shipowners complete inspection requirements safely, efficiently and without interrupting vessel schedules.
